How we work

Structured programmes that prove competence under pressure

The IMPACT methodology is a structured, repeatable approach that embeds immersive practice into your existing safety management system - and produces measurable behavioural change aligned to Kirkpatrick L3-L4.

The challenge

Training proves attendance. It cannot prove performance.

Every safety-critical organisation faces the same gap: they can prove their people attended training, but they cannot prove their people will perform when it matters. Completion rates, test scores and attendance records tell you nothing about whether a worker will make the right call at 2am on a live plant, under production pressure, with nobody watching.

The IMPACT methodology exists to close that gap - not with more content delivery, but with a structured system that exercises, measures and predicts decision-making under pressure.

The four phases

IMPACT cycle

Phase 1

Prepare

Map the critical decisions where production pressure makes unsafe shortcuts tempting. Define what good performance looks like under real conditions - not in a classroom.

Phase 2

Immerse

Realistic VR/360° scenarios that exercise the exact decision under time pressure, noise and distraction. Decision Latency is measured at every interaction point.

Phase 3

Reinforce

Manager briefings, reflection prompts and practical job aids that sustain the right behaviour on the job - when stopping or slowing down is the harder choice.

Phase 4

Measure

Quantified evidence of improved decision quality over time. Competence Decay Forecasting triggers re-training before performance degrades below safe thresholds.

“Clients don't buy a dashboard. They buy a continuous safety system - one that tells them, in advance, where the next incident is most likely to occur.”

Decision Latency™

The measurement layer that changes everything

Decision Latency is our proprietary measure of the precise time and accuracy of a trainee's response to safety-critical stimuli. It is the only metric that directly measures whether someone will perform under pressure - not just whether they know what to do.

By quantifying the gap between stimulus and correct action, we identify behavioural failure points before they occur in the real world. This moves beyond binary pass/fail to a granular latency distribution - identifying the percentage of “qualified” staff who are actually at risk due to slow reaction times, fatigue or skill fade.

DL

Decision Latency Score

Millisecond-precise measurement of response time and accuracy to safety-critical stimuli under realistic pressure conditions. The foundational metric.

CDF

Competence Decay Forecasting

Predicts when an individual's safety-critical competence will degrade below acceptable thresholds. Triggers re-training before failure occurs - not after.

VP

Vulnerability Profiling

Identifies specific conditions, scenarios and stressor combinations where an individual is most likely to make an unsafe decision. Personalised risk insight.

CRS

Cohort Risk Scoring

Aggregates individual Decision Latency data across teams and sites to identify systemic vulnerabilities before they produce incidents. Organisational-level intelligence.

The engine behind the method

How IMPACT programmes reach 23,000 people across three continents

The methodology defines what we do and why. The purpose-built platform underneath is how we deliver structured programmes to offshore vessels, motorway mechanics, and factory floors - without compromising on measurement or quality. It's also how we build your internal capability to sustain programmes independently.
Build capability

Your teams create content

We transfer authoring capability to your L&D teams. No-code tools mean they build and update safety scenarios - 360° video, 3D environments, branching logic - without developers or dependency on us.

Reach everyone

Any device, any location

VR headsets, tablets, phones, desktop. Store-and-Forward sync for offline environments - offshore vessels, remote mines, maritime operations. The programme reaches your people wherever they work.

Track what matters

Decision-quality analytics

The IMPACT Dashboard tracks Decision Latency, hazard recognition accuracy, and behavioural shift over time. Session replay lets managers review the specific decision path each learner took.

Scale globally

Serverless infrastructure

Built on AWS Lambda and S3. Auto-scales from 10 to 10,000+ simultaneous users. 99.9% uptime SLA. AWS CloudFront CDN for global low-latency delivery.

Meet your standards

ISO 27001 certified

AWS London (eu-west-2), AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit. First XR training supplier with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus. BPSS/SC cleared staff available.

Build independence

Your IP, your data

Content you create stays yours. Full data sovereignty. No lock-in. Our goal is to build your internal capability - not your dependency on us. G-Cloud 15 listed for public sector procurement.

Where we're investing

Deepening the science behind the method

Innovate UK funded

Decision Latency Engine

A proprietary AI analytics engine that moves beyond binary pass/fail to granular latency distributions. Identifies the percentage of “qualified” staff who are actually at risk due to slow reaction times, fatigue or skill fade. Four unique outputs: Decision Latency scoring, Competence Decay Forecasting, Vulnerability Profiling, and Cohort Risk Scoring.

Innovate UK funded

Store-and-Forward Sync

Bidirectional synchronisation protocol for disconnected industrial environments - offshore rigs, maritime vessels, underground mines, remote energy sites. Standalone headsets capture high-fidelity interaction data offline and securely reconcile once connectivity is restored. Solves the infrastructure gap that prevents enterprise XR adoption in precisely the industries where safety training matters most.

This R&D programme is funded by Innovate UK Growth Catalyst and supported by Symvan Capital. Launch partners: ACSA (airports) and Zodiac Maritime (shipping). The outcome: safety programmes that predict human failure before it happens.

Research foundation

Evidence from the field

Procedural accuracy

Evangelista et al. (2025)

Immersive practice under realistic conditions improves procedural accuracy under time pressure by 45% compared to traditional classroom instruction.

Hazard recognition

Toyoda et al. (2022)

Exposure to operational realism during training improves hazard recognition and cue detection under high-stress conditions.

Safe failure

Stefan et al. (2023)

Immersive scenarios that include realistic error consequences strengthen decision-making quality and reduce unsafe shortcuts by 38%.

Integration

Fits with your existing systems

Not a replacement

We don't replace your procedures, audits or compliance framework. We sit alongside them. Your rules stay your rules. We strengthen the decisions people make when those rules matter most.

Works at scale

Whether you're managing one critical decision or rolling out across multiple sites and teams, the approach is the same - focused, disciplined, measurable. Start with one. Prove the impact. Scale from there.
